What’s the weather going to be like on race day? I have it on good authority that it will be sunny and 80°!
Seriously though, this is central Indiana. May 20, in central Indiana has seen everything from 35° (2002) to 90° (1975). The average low for May 21 is 53° and the average high is 73°. On a good note, if you don’t like the particular weather, just wait 15 minutes. It will change!
The current water temperature on Morse Lake is 51°. Brrrr! Fortunately, as of today (May 5, 2017), there is 2 more weeks until TOUGHMAN Indiana at Noblesville. That’s plenty of time for the weather, and the water to warm up, as long as we can keep the rain away, though I can almost guarantee the race will be wetsuit legal. As soon as the water hits 61°, we’ll have some practice swims.
Many thanks to Michael Berry of Morse Lake Weather for providing the historical data for this graph, showing water temps on May 20 for the last decade.
